Mental health friendly places
Mental Health Friendly Places are welcoming, non-judgmental, safe spaces for people who need to talk about their mental health. They can be anywhere from local cafes to hair salons and libraries.
The people who work there are fully trained and can help talk to you about your mental health, how to deal with it and where to go for more help and support.

P3 mental health and wellbeing support
P3 provides a mental health wellbeing and recovery support service for adults aged 18 and over. They can offer advice and community recovery services.
Talking Therapies
If you are experiencing excessive worry, low mood, depression, anxiety or a lack of motivation then VitaMinds can help. VitaMinds works in partnership with the NHS to provide talking therapy services and counselling in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Self harm support
Harmless is working in Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland to help people address and overcome issues related to self-harm. They offer short and long term therapy support. Support can be accessed through one-to-one working, group work or informal drop-in sessions. Harmless will work with all ages and can provide support, advice and guidance to carers and families.
Bereavement support
The Tomorrow Project offers support to those bereaved by suicide in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. They offer one to one, face to face, emotional and practical support to anyone that has been bereaved by suicide. Support is offered for as long as the person requires. Referrals are accepted for children and adults.
Veterans Mental Health Support
Combat Stress support veterans’ and their mental health. They help former servicemen and women with mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Young Minds
Young Minds is a mental health charity for younger people. Their website has different articles, useful resources, and online crisis messenger. You can also text them on 85258.
Kooth
Kooth is a digital mental health service. Their website has a free online counselling service for young people and has many useful articles and forums you can read.
Older Person’s Support
Age UK Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland is a local charity providing help and support to older people in our local communities. This includes information and advice, support for living independently, dementia support, and isolation. For more information visit their website.
Domestic Violence
LWA (Living Without Abuse) is a domestic and sexual abuse charity providing support to residents in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. They provide support to anyone experiencing or fearing violence or abuse from a partner, ex-partner or family member. Carers support
The Carers Centre LLR offers support to unpaid carers. If you are looking after someone who can’t manage without your help due to their disability, physical or mental illness, frailty, addiction, or long-term condition, then The Carers Centre can offer you support.

Information and support
Mind offer advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Their website has lots of information about mental health including signposting, self-help and helpline numbers for support.
Menopause
The Menopause Awareness Raising Service are working to increase people’s knowledge and awareness of the menopause and the impact this can have on women. They offer training for menopause champions in the workplace and signpost to support.
Advocacy
Lamp provides free community mental health advocacy for individuals, families and carers living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. They support people who are struggling to navigate and access mental health services, supporting those feeling vulnerable, confused, and unsure where to turn. The provide support with the following:

- Help with a mental health diagnosis
- Understanding your rights regarding mental health care
- Questioning a decision about care and support
- Support at care appointments
- Communicate needs and wants to care teams and specialists

Hub of Hope is an online mental health support directory. It signposts to local, national, community, charity, private and NHS mental health support. You can search for services using your postcode.
