Training available
Healthy Conversation Skills
Healthy Conversation Skills (HCS) training is offered as part of the Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland Making Every Contact Count approach. The training is an opportunity to develop a core set of skills and techniques which can help you to make the most out of every interaction and support others in making positive lifestyle changes. Nutrition and Healthy Living Training for a variety of workforces in Leicester
Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetics Service are providing training for staff who support adults in Leicester
This training package aims to provide you with an understanding of the causes of excess weight and key nutrition messages. It will give you the knowledge and confidence to take information learnt in this training into your own day to day work.
This training is suitable for anyone working in Leicester who:
- Interacts with people and wants to learn more about how to support those they work with to access better health and wellbeing.
- Wants to gain knowledge on nutrition and a balanced diet and learn why it is important.
- To upskill staff to feel confident and empowered to support people on making healthier food choices.
This training will include information on:
- A balanced diet and how this can be adapted for individual health needs, providing practical suggestions and cultural variations.
- Eating on a budget and advice when shopping.
- Barriers to maintaining a healthy weight and what could help.
- Being mindful when eating.

Leicestershire Nutrition and Dietetic Service for Early Years Settings
As part of the Eat Better Start Better Programme in Leicester, LNDS support childcare providers to create healthy environments for children to grow and develop.
Cooking skills courses
We can provide tailored cooking skills courses to local organisations working with people experiencing inequalities to support them to learn how to cook, how to cook on a budget and try new recipes from a qualified tutor. - British Heart Foundation have a suit of resources including the Eat Better booklet designed to help people reduce their risk of heart and cardiovascular disease and their local physical activity guideline leaflets.
